Identify Leadership Style Essay

As a pioneer, it here and there returns a stage to see oneself to acknowledge what kind of pioneer you are to comprehend your qualities and shortcomings, so you can lead a powerful group to progress. After loads of administration quizs and readings, my initiative style is participative (Democratic) with an accentuation on the accord see. â€Å"A participative pioneer looks to include others all the while, conceivably including subordinates, companions, bosses and different partners. Frequently, be that as it may, all things considered inside the managers’ impulse to give or deny control to their subordinates, most participative movement is inside the prompt group (Tannenbaum and Schmitt, 1958).† A portion of the attributes of the participative pioneer and that of myself are: making a climate were imagination is needed and remunerated, taking part in the collective choice creation process and keeping in mind that keeping the last say over choices, permitting individuals to share thoughts and contemplations. A1a: Two Strengths Utilizing the participative authority style gives me the most focal points when working and settling on choices in a gathering. The primary two qualities of my initiative style (participative) is: Empowerment and Better Team Decisions. Empowerment: as characterized by Dictionary.com, â€Å"v.â€to give force or authority; to approve, particularly by authentic methods. To empower or allow (Dictionary.com, 2014).† How can it feel when you have a feeling that you have a state in a gathering or group? You feel esteemed. I appreciate permitting my group to feel esteemed and utilize their choices to settle on for the most ideal choice. The inclination that bunch individuals get from taking part settles on an official choice acknowledged considerably more. By and by, when colleagues have contribution to the last objective, they feel capable and pay attention to it substantially more. Better Team Decisions: Since I don’t know all the appropriate responses, isn’t it better essential to have heaps of individuals helping discover the appropriate responses. In my administration style, since we have heaps of individuals conceptualizing on thoughts, it settles on for better group choices. At the point when an extreme choice is ahead, its basic to have others helping decide. Workers input is priceless in a gathering partaking setting. At the point when I permit others to help decide, the nature of those choices will just increment. A1b: Two Weaknesses With this viable administration style brings a few cons. One of the cons of this style of authority is time limitations. At the point when the group is freed into deciding, it takes for some time to come to extraordinary collective choice. This kind of initiative permits bunches of conversations and getting everyone’s thoughts, which thusly hinders the entire procedure. This style is a more slow procedure, yet the expert of settling on the best choice exceeds the con. The second con for this authority style is that there can typically just be one choice and we as a group/gathering can not utilize everyone’s sentiment or choice. This can make some colleagues become disturbed or warmed, however can be maintained a strategic distance from with a decent pioneer driving the conversations. While permitting this style to be in a gathering, the gathering must go to an accord in concurring on the best choice and all gatherings must concur with whatever result is picked. A2: Compare against two different styles Lets take a gander at two other initiative styles and contrast them with the participative authority style. Legitimate (absolutist) which is a style that has clear desires and for the most part settles on choices with little contribution from the group/gathering. In this style, the gathering settles on quick choices and the pioneer is generally the most learned colleague in the gathering Some likenesses are that when theâ team is in a tough situation or time is no longer of substance, the group head must settle on an absolutist choice for the improvement of the gathering. The commitments of the group will be a lot of lower than that of my participative style. Delegative (Laissez-Faire) is something contrary to the totalitarian style in that there is next to zero group direction and the group is left to settle on all the choices. This style is the least profitable style since it offers no structure. The gathering is bound to request a great deal from the pioneer and as a rule won't work autonomously. This style is utilized when all colleagues are over-qualified in the subject matter, yet in addition prompts absence of inspiration for the gathering. The taking an interest administration style that I am separated of employments both the absolutist and the delegative style angles to accomplish most extreme gathering potential. Participative initiative is worried about the gathering and that the gathering has input. A3: Understanding to be increasingly successful To be a pioneer you should have a blend of abilities, practices, esteem sets and information. To be an increasingly successful pioneer one must comprehend their capacities and get others and their qualities/shortcomings. This comprehension incorporates an anxiety for other authority styles. An instigating pioneer, understanding certain circumstances and authority styles, can complete various styles to lead various gatherings and groups of individuals. An incredible pioneer will gracefully help and consolation to a gathering dependent on its needs and keep up the gathering by utilizing its information on various authority styles. A compelling pioneer can not achieve achievement selective of a group. Those groups will comprise of bunches of colleagues and various pioneers. A successful pioneer will have the option to comprehend other authority styles to help and help those pioneers. â€Å"The preferred position to understanding your administration style is that you comprehend your qualities and shortcomings. You can be proactive and increasingly successful as a pioneer by deliberately utilizing your qualities and neutralizing your more fragile regions. Your style characterizes your qualities and point of view, and monitoring it will help your correspondence those you work with. As the truism goes, information is power. You can engage yourself and push ahead in your profession or enthusiasm by practicing this information (Raines, 2011).† When knowing yourself and your administration style it causes you in the working environment. Knowing your workplace and working environment provokes assists with tending to suitable arrangements utilizing your administration style. By knowing your style and the regions around you, it causes you cause sound methodologies for answers for the issues and you to can prevail by directing the qualities of the authority way. Being a pioneer implies that you should have the option to know your qualities and shortcomings and the circumstances of the gathering and when to fuse your style into the circumstance. Initiative isn't a thing that fits all circumstances. The more administration styles you are acclimated with, the more debatable you will have the option to be in the gathering. A4: Two issues in work environment because of various administration Issue 1: A representative is in every case late for work environment. The timetable that the worker is on is one of turning shifts (day and night). This includes various directors with various initiative styles. These diverse administration styles has permitted this representative to proceed with its terrible practices and keep on being late. Issue 2: Personality Clash. Your style is to work out issues and arrangements (majority rule authority style) while a supervisor you work with is immediate and to the point (imperious style), and doesn’t need to catch wind of the arrangements however simply needs the issues fixed. â€Å"Spray firearm in tablet bed has quit working, the vast majority of the group needs to discover underlying driver, however one of the administrators needs an answer now and doesn’t need to comprehend what causedâ the problem.† A4a: Two different ways to beat every issue Issue 1: Late representative. The representative that is late realizes that if LF (Laissez-Faire) director is working that he permits an unstructured workplace. At the end of the day, see nothing, hear nothing, talk nothing and everything is right in the work place. He has muddled desires for this late representative and is a greater amount of individuals supplications er that handling the issue. This director is fine if the worker is late as long as it doesn't impact creation. This authority style additionally permits him to play top picks. He has various standards for various individuals. For whatever length of time that creation isn't influenced, whats to trouble? On the off chance that AA (Autocratic) is administrator, this worker realizes that she can not be late to work, as isn't inspired by a paranoid fear of results of her activities. They realize that move will be made against them on the off chance that they are late. This causes a stream down impact for workers, and their camaraderie. Since not all administration colleagues are on a similar plane, things like this are continually occurring. We should fix this issue, before it turns crazy. Fix. LF administrator should initially keep the guidelines and make the worker responsible for her activities. On the off chance that that representative is late, they ought to have outcomes like every other person. In the event that that doesn't work, at that point supervisors of this group ought to know about all occasions that representatives are showing up and going home. During a month to month meeting, the board could audit all identification in/outs to ensure times are reliable with when representatives are showing up and leaving. At these gatherings, representatives are addressed and considered responsible for their lateness. On the off chance that this is definitely not a reasonable alternative, the board ought to have one supervisor that is liable for all tardies/lates to work. This would be a devoted activity for the supervisor and remove the duty from different administrators andâ help mitigate the initiative style contrasts between directors. Another fast fixer, is talk about this issue with LF director and consider him responsible for permitting the representative to pull off tardies/lates. This one on one gathering would assist with giving him that there are results to his activities and that all representatives should be responsible for their activities. Issue 2: Spray weapon. One approach to fix this issue is to welcome and have the said supervisor join in and have conversations inside the gathering to assist him with seeing that not all issues have prompt arrangements. Permitting him on the

Public Versus Private Security an Example of the Topic Science and Technology Essays by

Public Versus Private Security The role of security in the United States is extremely critical in preventing crimes. Today, the discipline faces rapid changes after the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. Security has never been tighter to curve terrorism in the country. Traditionally, the government provides security to protect its people and properties, maintain peace and order, and implement crime prevention measures. Thus, public law enforcement was created to carry out such duties to ensure safety in a democratic society since 1844. Public policing has provided essential services to achieve justice. We will write a custom essay sample specifically for you Proceed However, with the arrival of the industrial revolution where many infrastructures were built and large companies flourished, several private inpiduals began to establish their own security personnel to guard their properties. A series of reforms were initiated in the field of security and generated new needs. At present, there are more private security agencies than police agencies in America. According to the 9/11 Commission, 85 percent of the countrys infrastructures are owned and protected by the private sector. But I don't have the timeEssay writer professionals propose:Buy Essays Cheap Buy Written Essays Pay For College Essays Essay Writing Service Reviews The number of people employed by private security, moreover, is at least three times larger than the number employed by public law enforcement. The amount of money spent on private security is many times greater than state, county, and local law enforcement expenditures combined. (Morabito & Greenberg, 2005, p. 1, 6). The Bureau of Justice Statistics estimates that there are 16,661 public law enforcement agencies across America employing some 677,933 sworn officers. On the other hand, the number of private security agencies reached more than 10,000 with at least two million security officers. The U.S. private security service is a $39 billion industry and its demand is expected to grow by 4.3 percent by 2010. Private and public policing have similar functions that often overlap. In general both services want to deter crime, prevent loses, and bring wrongdoers to justice. Police and private officers respond to emergencies and perform life saving measures to victims of crimes and disasters. Despite these similarities in roles and responsibilities the two agencies differ in many ways. Public policing are offered by the local, state, tribal, and federal agencies whose main concerns are street crimes. Police officers are mandated to serve and protect the public as well as to enforce the law while private security officers are in business not to serve the general public but to safeguard the interests of inpiduals or organizations who hired them. The ultimate goal of private policing, which offers its services for a fee, is purely economic gain. It is a profit oriented service rather than restoring public order. Police officers are trained to be independent without bias in the performance of their duties. Meanwhile, private security officers are flexible executing tasks that they are paid to do and always on the side of their clients. As agents of the law, police are granted special powers or have higher authority to search, arrest, and detain unlike in the private sectors that are only deputized to use such powers like making a citizens arrest. Public police are accountable to the courts and to elected legislatures and executivesand they are formally charged with the enforcement of criminal laws and the prevention and detection of crime. (Joh, 2004, p. 57). Private security officers are simply accountable to their customers and employers and obligated to protect their needs. Private policing is categorized into corporate security and private security firms. Corporate security is maintained by large corporations where they have security departments to operate their own security measures. Private security firms contract their services to the public, banks, businesses and other entities. Their range of services consists of providing security guards, alarm monitoring, insurance investigation, armored transport, mobile patrol, protection of executives, forensic analyses, investigating corporate fraud, protection against computer crimes, and security consultation. In terms of employment, those in the public law enforcement have better chance of job security than those in the private and perhaps better benefits like retirement plans. There are high turnover rates in the private sector with insufficient pre-employment screening, minimal recruitment training, standards, and regulations. The training in public policing is rigid and candidates are thoroughly checked regarding their background information. Police officers have higher educational attainment compared to the private because of the existence of academies making sure that the candidates are adequately equipped for the job. At times, those in the public policing would take part time jobs in the private sector while others would take private security jobs as a stepping stone to become a police officer. As the largest provider of policing services in the country, private security firms more often are managed by former members of government law enforcement agencies like the police force, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency, and military personnel. Primarily, those in private policing are focused in protecting assets and properties rather than crime. Its emphasis is on the preventive means rather than detecting and apprehending perpetuators to control crime and disorder. Private security officers have no civil protection since they do not hold legal powers and can be sued directly for illegal actions. In comparison to the public police, its private counterparts suffer from a serious legitimacy deficit. One of the main reasons for this is that they lack the laws justification. There are few, if any, statutes or laws that give the private security industry governmentally granted rights or powers. (Borja, 1998, 74). Many private security officers have specialized technical capabilities which not all the public law enforcement personnel do no possess. They have expertise in safeguarding computer networks, financial institutions, chemical plants, malls, hospitals, and others institutions. They are equipped with advanced technological resources to stop crime. Those who are under 25 years old and over 54 are likely to work in the private policing where women are also highly represented. Public law enforcement often faces lack of financial resources due to tight budgets. Their wages and morals are affected. However, the private security also suffers the same fate as the industry has become very competitive. As a result, members of both agencies try to augment their income by transferring to the other side or taking part time jobs during their off duty. Police officers easily gain the trust and confidence of the public as they are visible in the community unlike the private security officers who are confined in the offices and premises of corporations. In addition, private policing has a broad meaning that uses different job titles such as agents, safety patrol, private police, bodyguards, security guards, executive protection agents, mall security officer, and private patrol officer among others. Private security programs are generally organized to protect the assets of the organization, and to prevent and control loss. Equally important are controlling losses from vandalism, waste, fire, and natural disasters, as well as damage to reputation and standing in the community. (Lubrinco, 2002, 22). According to the Hallcrest surveys, public law enforcement has the following priorities: protection of lives and property, arrest/prosecute suspects, investigate criminal incidents, maintain public order, crime prevention, and community relations. Meanwhile, the private security priorities involved protection of lives and property, crime prevention, loss prevention, fire prevention, access control, and investigate criminal incidents. Partnership Realizing the potential force of private security in number and resources as well as its expertise, the government has initiated a partnership and collaborative effort between private and public law enforcement agencies in the country for the sole purpose of homeland security. It is perceived that this partnership is vital in preventing domestic and international terrorism. This cooperation will also fill the gap that the two agencies lack and define their overlapping roles to function effectively. In the past, the private security group has already been working with police by sharing information but this time the collaboration is serious enough to warrant such a noble mission by sharing one goal in defending the country from terrorist attacks. Working together, private security and law enforcement can realize impressive benefits: creative problem solving, increased training opportunities, information, data, and intelligence sharing, force multiplier opportunities, access to the community through private sector communications technology, and reduced recovery time following disasters. (Morabito & Greenberg, p. 3). Perhaps this would be the best time to develop trust with each other eliminating misunderstandings of the past and move forward to secure freedom from those who want to destroy it. Private and Public law enforcement have a lot to learn from each other. Each could complement the weakness of the other and affirm their strengths together as they open opportunities towards a manageable security plan for America. Unifying their resources and information gathering could lead to better and efficient crime prevention efforts. Coordinating and understanding the responsibilities of each other could likewise result in a more accurate and timely response during emergencies and disasters that could help and save numerous lives. Clearly this collaboration will have a positive impact not only on national security but in our communities knowing that the citizens are properly protected from the bad elements of society. Our country would be a better world to live if all security agencies of private and public joined forces to keep us safe. With terrorism at hand, efficient security measures are top priority but this could only be achieved if there is harmony among law enforcement agencies. References Morabito, A. Greenberg, S. (2005). American Verna Essays - Hindu Law, Caste, Social Status, Varna

American Verna Essays - Hindu Law, Caste, Social Status, Varna American Verna The American Verna Why is that humans were able to practically take over their environment and leave all other animal species far behind in the race of survival? Not many would argue that we were able to do so just because we can walk upright and we have unspecialized teeth. In fact, humans are capable of many things that separate us from the animals. Our far most important trait is the ability to analyze and comprehend complex subject matters. From that we can learn, understand and communicate with one another so we could accomplish things as a group, a group which one day became so complex that without structure and laws, chaos would preside. In our times, we see many distinct cultures where each has its own way of organizing and way of keeping its people in harmony. Although most of the world is leaning towards democracy, there are few nations who believe in the ancient ways. One of the most controversial civilizations studied is the Indian civilization, which developed and flourished as early as 70 00 B.C.E. The controversy rises from a harsh though well-thought classification of people due to their skin color and other physical characteristics. To democratic America this may sound a bit horrifying although some even argue that the United States maintains some sort of a caste system perhaps even as harsh as the one in India. This idea can surely be proven wrong through a close comparison of the Indian social structure and the American freedom. A false conclusion should not be made that there is no sort of a caste system in America, but one that is not as rigid nor providing social importance as the one in Ancient Indian culture. The way a culture develops and evolves plays a major role of how the system would stand. As explained later, there are few theories of how and why a caste system is created, but all studied caste systems have common foundations. One common issue is that there are physical differences between each caste whether they associate with the way a person can perform activities or not. However, a major difference is how the separate classes serve and correlate with one another. Manu, one of the earliest rulers of India, wrote a description of the Indian social structure. The Law of Manu consists of a brief explanation of what are the objectives and duties of each Indian class, also know as Varna. Even though the lower castes were involved in more physical obligations, it clearly shows that the upper classes were also involved in someway of serving the lower classes: Teaching, studying performing sacrificial rites, so too making others perform sacrificial rites, and giving away and receiving gifts- these he assigned to the [Brahmins]. Protection of the people, giving away of wealth, performance of sacrificial rites, study, and nonattachment to sensual pleasures- these are, in short, are the duties of the kshatriya. Tending to cattle, giving away of wealth, performance of sacrificial rites, study, trade and commerce, usury, and agriculture- these are the occupations of the Vaisya. The lord has prescribed only one occupation [karma] for a Sudra, namely, service without malice of even these other three classes. Within the Indian culture, there is a great level of interaction between the different classes, unlike in the early United States, where Americans imported an entire society and forced them to serve as their lower class. The slaves were treated with unbearable conditions, which made them develop hate and the need to revolt. The aftermath of the civil war included the abolishment of slavery though racism still plays a major role. Just the fact that there was a need for a revolution shows how negatively based the American system became. Lower classes wanted to climb the social ladder and are now able to do so. In Indian societies the movement up the hierarchy is not as simple as getting your education and working a good job. In fact, the concept of changing ones Varna during his lifetime was unheard of. In order to get bumped up the Indians had to follow the Dharma which is described as a law regulating human behavior and imposes different requirements on different individual depending on their

How to Prepare for Final Examinations Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words - 1

How to Prepare for Final Examinations - Article Example Before, the beginning of examinations, the student should set certain goals which he likes to achieve or reflect in the examination results. Subsequently, all the efforts should be made to attain those predetermined goals. The goals should be realistic ones. In other words, the student should never set goals which are beyond his capabilities. There are many students who struggle to get even the desired grades in the final examinations because of the unrealistic goals just before the examinations. It is difficult for an average student to achieve first grade even if he tries extremely hard during the final examinations. If he wants to achieve first grade he should begin his preparations at the beginning of the course itself. When it comes to preparations of final examinations, different students opt for different ways. However, there are some general principles which are followed by the majority of the students while they prepare for their final examinations. First, it is better to start examination preparations as early as possible in order to avoid problems later. Early preparations help the student to avoid stress and anxiety with respect to final examinations. Majority of the students fail to perform well in final examinations because of their anxiety and stress related to the outcomes of the examination. Self-assessment of the level of knowledge in each subject is the second step in the preparations of final examinations. Before the beginning of the preparations, the student should decide which subjects need more attention and which subjects need less attention since he is the only one who knows his mastery in different subjects very well.  Ã‚

The concept of peak oil has been devised to reflect scarcity Essay

The concept of peak oil has been devised to reflect scarcity associated with oil supplies. But surely the price of oil would be a more efficient indication of its scarcity - Essay Example In contrast to the peak oil concept, global oil production showed a decline from its peak point at 74 mb/d in 2005; however, after a short decline the figures rebounded, and in 2011 there were higher production of oil than 2005 (US energy information and administration, 2011). Peak oil is ascertained by taking into account extraction rates from each oil well, the predicted oil reserves, and total extraction rate of an oil field comprising of associated oil wells (Berdellà ©, 2011). Here the core contentious issue is that the concept of ‘peak oil,’ which had been devised to reflect oil scarcity, is an ambiguous indicator of scarcity. Instead, some economists content that oil prices prove to be a more efficient indication of the scarcity of oil. Various experts contend that oil scarcity is dependent on the rate of consumption, where constraints placed on supply side are based on product demands. James L. Smith in his research papers, using benchmark scenario, high growth scenario and low growth scenario graphs, proved that peak timing is inconsistent as an indicator of oil scarcity (2011, pp. 8-13). Observations revealed that during 2007-08 economic crisis, despite oil supplies not increasing, there was loosening in the oil scarcity factor, owing to low demand. The equation for supply-demand graph can be plotted effectively through the factor of pricing, hence making oil prices a better indicator for its scarcity. Natural oil does not have any uniform or any standardised quality, and tends to vary significantly, which range from medium quality oil, to oil with high API gravity (high quality) from Saudi Arabian fields, to low API gravity (poor quality) heavy oil from fields in South America and Canada. Despite reports of fall in high quality oil levels, as far as supply of heavy oil is concerned, there is no scarcity, and many oil fields in deep-water areas remain unexplored (Stier, 2008). The Saudi Arabian high API oils are relatively easy to extract and oil

How to Properly Inform an Employee Regarding Their Evaluation Performance Essay Example for Free

How to Properly Inform an Employee Regarding Their Evaluation Performance Essay The topic scenario chosen is regarding an employee, Maria of Latino ancestry, who filed a complaint that she was unfairly eliminated for consideration of a promotion because of her distinctive accent. The current employee is a second-generation native-born American citizen, holds a graduate degree, have been employed with the company for 10 years and in her current position for seven years. Another employee, Alex an Anglo, is considered for the promotion instead of his fellow co-worker Maria. He holds a graduate degree, but has less time in the same position. He has been evaluated to show signs of advancement and ambition, as well as have a better job evaluation. Maria indicates that she is the only employee of race, color and sex in her current department. She accuses her supervisor, who is a white male, of being bias and claims that was the reason for her lower evaluation. She stated that her supervisor informed her that she was not considered for promotion due to the fear that their clients would have trouble understanding her accent. She alleges that the company is engaging in discriminatory practices. The company argues that Maria is a good employee but is often loud and aggressive in her approach to co-workers and supervisors and has had some problems with attendance and tardiness. Twice her supervisor has counseled her for tardiness, and once for absence, which each time she gave family problems as reasons. She justified that in each case a family member needed help and it was her duty to be there for the family member. When the issue of accent was introduced, it was acknowledged that it was a major consideration but was not because of discrimination. Maria often spoke very rapidly, and her accent made understanding difficult when she did. The company alleges that the ability to communicate clearly was an essential component of the job in question. This topic scenario was chosen so that managers or supervisors learn how to properly address an employee regarding their evaluation results. This topic is important to the study of cultural diversity because due to globalization, managers and supervisors will eventually come across multiple ethnic groups with different cultural backgrounds and nationalities. It is crucial for managers or supervisors to communicate and successfully solve conflict among diverse ethnic employees within a company. The student will expect to find how a manager or supervisor should determine what course of action is appropriate when conflict has risen about race, gender and accent in a company. Information about the EEOC and the law pertaining about this case will be introduced. Evaluation of the steps taken in this scenario will be explained as well as solutions, if any, will be given to properly execute effective communication. Statistical data will be presented about the increase of Hispanic occupation in the United States as well as gender in the workforce. Solutions on to how improve the company and its managers or supervisors will be given in order to prevent future unintentional discriminatory processes.

The Pros and Cons of Technology :: Pro Con Essays

Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Many argue that as we venture further into the frontier of technology we proceed with a slow death of society, by losing culture and ultimately a sense of self. To a certain extent this may be true, but realistically if we cease to progress we wont be able to survive. (Robert) The advantages Technology has given us outweigh the disadvantages.  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   There are many examples of advantages and disadvantages some mentioned were â€Å" Technology has the ability to create shortcuts in working and can make tasks easier also. Solid examples are cars, calculators and phones, through technology life may be faster but is also easier. To further this point a fact brought up by Jo-ann was that diseases we have today would be and could have become epidemics, if it were not for technology being there in the field of medicine, medical advances would not have happened or would have come years later (Jo-ann). As far as transportation man has come a long way from horses and coal driven trains to computer navigable and driven cars. In boats crossing the Atlantic it took four to six months, in 747 airliner commercial jets takes ten to fifteen hours (Dana), even though they add to the pollution crisis a population accustomed to having these conveniences is still using them regardless. Among other advantages is the fact that with technology communic ations is a hundred times faster than without it (Ailua). Before telephones, emails and fax machines, there were trains, carriages and the pony express with the modes of traveling we have now we have been able to make the world smaller so to speak. With technology we enjoy luxuries such as movies, television, fresh food and refrigerators, ovens to cook on and bake in. And with every advantage that technology gives, it brings along with it a disadvantage we have come to depend on it more and more as we advance in the field. If we didn’t have technology we would become victim to things we were ignorant of. An example would be the bubonic plague in Europe in the sixteen hundreds , they did not have the medical advances that we have to deal with diseases like this to them it was a guessing game. As mentioned before we have technology to be able to find causes and cures. To me, the only real threat that technology poses to mankind is its abilities being used in nuclear and atomic warfare.

Formal linkage mechanisms Essay

Formal linkage mechanisms such as mergers and joint ventures are supposed to reduce transaction costs in a business enterprise. However, sometimes companies can experience increased cost if the management fails to lay down proper strategies (Jones, 2006). It is worth noting that joint venture refers to two or more parties coming together to carry out business activities. In this case, these parties agree to share revenues and expenses. On the other hand, mergers entail two or more companies joining but each maintains their identity. The likely causes of increased costs In both mergers and joint ventures, there is the possibility of â€Å"double running of the departments†(Jones, 2006). This comes about by failure of the companies to do away with similar operating departments. For instance, when the joined and merged companies each maintain their human resource department, the results are increased expenses in running the departments. Increased company cost can also result from uncertainty about the future by the trading partners. In this regard, the resulting merger or joint venture has to cater for the associated risks. For instance, the possibility of one or more parties pulling out will result to increased cost since the ratio of sharing cost changes. Conclusion and Recommendations The above factors would contribute to an upward trend in the company’s transactions costs. Therefore, it would be of significance for the computer company to consider the following recommendations. The companies should review their former organizational structure by joining departments that perform similar functions to avoid duplication. Moreover, the companies in the merger should work out a plan towards reducing uncertainty costs such as increasing the number of partners in the merger (Jones, 2006).

Behavioral Addiction Specifically Internet Gaming Addiction

Abstract. This case study will be based on Behavioral Addiction specifically Internet Gaming Addiction (IGA). Addiction is considered as any object or behavior that has the ability to stimulate a person without using drugs and whenever a habit changes into a responsibility, it can be considered an addiction. According to DSM-5, repetitive behaviors which activate a reward system similar to drug use can also produce some behavioral symptoms that are similar to drug abuse (DSM-5). IGA does not have a diagnostic criterion, but guide lines for further studies were included in section three of the DSM-5; it is also an essential point for researchers to clarify or define processes and/or behaviors that may contribute to the development of†¦show more content†¦Internet addiction can lead to impairment psychologically, socially, and occupationally and it is to be taken as seriously as any other addiction that a person is aligned with. Theorist explains that many of the symptoms in p sychiatry are socially and historically indomitable, and each era provides its own new trend to further distress people; and what comes along with that is the dangerous wide range of symptoms in the addition model, but explains little (Paris, 2013). With that being said, Internet gaming disorder is what is new in this era, and it is causing a lot of distress for people This is a case study of a young African American male; around early to late teens, who came for a session with is elderly mother. He was well dressed, well groomed and healthy, but is communication skills where limited in terms of what he says and the way he says it. His mother is concern about the times he spends on the computer, phone, and too much texting. She also complains about is eating habits; he does not eat very much. He himself stated â€Å"who needs to eat† an d goes on to mock is mom about the healthy food she forces him to eat; such as drinking milk and eating
